Energy storage system (smart grid) display

A modern smart-grid concept requires distributed energy storage for the power generated by Solar and Wind sources. The client developed a system that comprised modular Li-Ion battery packs combined with an energy converter. A user interface based touchscreen display was required to configure, control, and diagnose the system. Linux SBC with a 7” touchscreen was used to host the QT application.

The project has several technical challenges:

  • Serve a high diversity of system configuration (from 9kWh to 1 MWh storage) with the same QT application;
  • Provide a facility for support and diagnostics over a remote Internet connection;
  • A convenient user interface both for the end user and technical engineers worldwide.
